Artwalk to host fall fundraiser concert and barbecue

Charitable Event, Feature, Sarnia — By on September 17, 2012 at 8:47 pm

Artwalk is pleased to host its first annual Fall Fundraiser Concert & BBQ, featuring some of Canada’s best indie music acts.  The event is slated for Sep. 23 and will be held at The DOW People Place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Welcoming you to the show will be perennial Sarnia “scenester” Ezio DeSantis. DeSantis has been an Artwalk participating artist, performer and supporter over the years. Armed with acoustic guitar, folky rock songs and raw emotion expect DeSantis to draw you in and kick things off in perfect local hero fashion.

Next up, former Artwalk main stage players Harlan Pepper return and they’re bringing their rootsy rock with them to the show. And fresh from some Colin Linden produced Nashville recording sessions for the follow-up to their debut release Young and Old.

Finishing up the night is Rah Rah, the award-winning young indie rockers who you may remember valiantly opened for Hawksley Workman at Artwalk 2012.  Rah Rah has toured Canada extensively and were named “Best New Canadiana Artist” in ITunes Best of 2009 list.

Tickets are $10 in advance and available at the Stardust Book Lounge or at the door on the evening of the show. The board of Artwalk will be running a BBQ and Railway City Brewing Co. will be on hand to provide five different types of beers to satisfy almost any palette.

Organizers say this is a licensed all ages event.

All proceeds will go towards Sarnia Artwalk, a non-profit organization whose mission is to harness the creative energy of our community in a series of year round collaborative community efforts.
