Beaches given ‘all clear’ for Canada Day weekend
Feature, Lambton County — By JD Booth on June 29, 2012 at 11:16 amLambton County's Medical Officer of Health has given the "all clear" for beaches tested the week of June 25, 2012. Beaches tested include Grand Bend (North and South beach), Highland Glen, Bright's Grove (including Mike Weir Park), Canatara Park, Pinery Provincial Park, and Ipperwash Main beach. While no sampling occurs along the St. Clair River, a caution sign advising high bacterial levels following heavy rainfall has been permanently placed at Branton Cundick Park and Brander Park. The Health Services department also notes that following heavy rainfall, the water at area beaches may be temporarily polluted for up to 48 hours. Also, if the water has become cloudy due to wave activity, bacteria from the bottom may become suspended and increase the risk of illness.
