On September 21, Bluewater Health and Bluewater Health Foundation hosted the 4th Annual Physician  Appreciation Day to honour physicians who contribute greatly to the Sarnia-Lambton community.

“We appreciate the tremendous dedication and commitment that our physicians have to patients and delivering quality  healthcare at Bluewater Health,” said Dr. Mark Taylor, Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief of Quality, Patient  Safety and Risk Management.

This year, Dr. Aurea Jose was the recipient of the Outstanding Physician of the Year Award. She was recognized for her many years of exceptional care as a dermatologist, to the patients throughout Sarnia-Lambton, whether in hospital, a  long-term care facility, or the community. She has also conducted the ‘mole check’ at Relay for Life for many years. Dr. Jose is respected and loved by patients, staff and colleagues.

The Outstanding Contribution to the Hospital Award was presented to two physicians: Dr. Pran Mehta and Dr. Michel Haddad.

Dr. Mehta was recognized for his 40 years of dedicated service to his patients and the hospital. Over that time period, he has helped to grow the orthopedic surgery program at the hospital.

Dr. Michel Haddad, while relatively new to Bluewater Health, has provided exceptional leadership as the Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit, Acting  Director of the Surgery Program, and the Acting Chief of Professional Staff. His decision-making and leadership skills are respected and appreciated by colleagues, staff, and all members of the team providing patient care.

Dr. Nashed Rashed, pediatrician and Medical Director of the Maternal/Infant/Child Program, was the recipient of the  Peer Recognition Award. Dr. Rashed was recognized for his contributions to the program and his guidance and insight in supporting fellow physician.
