Bluewater Health set to auction off SGH equipment

Sarnia — By on November 29, 2011 at 5:19 pm

Bluewater Health has hired Great West Auctions to manage the sale and disposition of formerly used hospital equipment.

The items include air conditioners, office equipment, bedside tables and minor equipment such as walkers. A partial list of items with photographs is publicly posted on Great West Auctions’ website at www.greatwestauctions.com  (click on the January 10 event).

The sale takes place on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 220 N. Mitton Street in Sarnia – formerly Sarnia General Hospital. Doors open and viewing begins at 8:30 am with the auction sale beginning at 10:00 am. Payment is by cash, cheque, Visa or MasterCard. Parking is free. Buyers must remove their purchased items by Friday, January 13, 2012.

Items for sale are obsolete and no longer suitable for use in the hospital. Some no longer meet the high safety, quality or infection control standards required of Ontario’s hospitals yet may be suitable for home, cottage or charitable use.

A number of other items, such as older wheelchairs and hospital beds, have been previously selected for use overseas by the locally-managed agency, Support of Lambton for Latin America (SOL for LA). Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill Industries and Rayjon have also received similar support from Bluewater Health in this and past years.

Bluewater Health will benefit from the proceeds of the auction.
