Bluewater Health has earned a 2011 Quality Healthcare Workplace Award from the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s HealthForceOntario (HFO).

The Quality Healthcare Workplace Award recognizes employer and staff efforts in fostering and establishing healthy workplaces. The awards also acknowledge commitment from senior leaders to improve healthcare workplaces in ways that contribute to providers’ quality of work life and the quality of care and services they deliver.

The Quality Healthcare Workplace Awards are adjudicated by a panel of quality workplace experts who complete a rigorous assessment process focused on drivers of employee and organizational health.

This year 37 organizations received awards at one of four levels: Bronze (7 recipients), Silver (14 recipients), Gold (11 recipients) and Platinum (5 recipients). Bluewater Health earned a Silver Award.

Sue Denomy, President and CEO said, “We are proud to receive this provincial award as recognition of our quality workplace, and the efforts of our Healthy Workplace Team.”

“Our dedicated team of staff and leaders are engaged, motivated, and committed to delivering on our mission of exemplary healthcare experiences for patients and families every time,” she added. “I congratulate each of them on this award and on their everyday service and contributions to Bluewater Health and those we serve.”

The award was presented on November 7 at OHA’s HealthAchieve conference in Toronto. The award will be publicly displayed at Bluewater Health.

In offering congratulations, Tom Closson, President and CEO of OHA said, “Healthcare organizations from across Ontario have taken on the challenge and the opportunity to participate in this program and raise the floor of excellence for quality healthcare workplaces.”
