Local senior hockey teams winless in three weekend encounters

Lambton's two senior hockey clubs came up empty in the win column on the weekend. The Petrolia Squires lost 4-2 against Komoka and 8-6 versus Milverton, while Goderich scored five times in the second period to beat Thedford, 7-4. The Squires are 3-4 on the season.  Thedford is 2-6.

Lambton OPP say an arrest was made in Petrolia Friday night (Oct. 14, 2011) after members of its Safe Streets Unit stopped a vehicle on Eureka Street. Update: Lawn mower death caused by ‘compressed asphyxia’

A coroner's report on the death of Dennis Kelly has determined the 56-year-old Petrolia man died of "compressed asphyxia" after the ride-on lawnmower he was operating went over an embankment near the St. Clair River and landed on him. Lambton OPP are continuing their investigation into the cause of the incident  which occurred Oct. 11.
