Charges laid for stunt driving
Crime, Lambton County, St. Clair — By Joe Burd on April 24, 2012 at 9:18 amLambton OPP arrested an 18-year-old Barrie teen Sunday and had his vehicle impounded for 7 days and his license suspended for the same period following a traffic stop on Highway 40.
Police said at around 5:15 p.m. on Apr. 22 an officer from the West Region Highway Enforcement Team was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 40 and Ward Line. It is alleged that a 2009 Honda Civic was seen travelling on Highway 40 at a speed that was clocked to be well over the posted limit of 80 kilometers per hour. Radar indicated a speed of 140 kilometers per hour.
The male driver, 18, was stopped, his vehicle seized, his license suspended and he faces a charge under the “Stunt Driving” legislation.
He is ordered to appear in Sarnia Provincial Offences court on Jun. 1 to face the charge.
