A five-year-old boy has been transported to hospital in London after being struck by vehicle on Campbell Street near Samuel Street on Wednesday afternoon.

Sarnia Police say its investigation indicates that a vehicle driven by a 45-year-old Corunna woman struck the boy just before 4:30.

Police say the seriousness of the boy's condition required that he be transferred from hospital in Sarnia to London.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact them at 519-344-8861, ext. 6127.

James, There is nothing any of us can say that will get you through these trying times. As someone who has lived in Sarnia for 6 years, I’ve seen the love this community has for its fellow residents. I know we will do our best, as a community, to be diligent in ensuring other children are safe on and near the road- in order to save another family from tragedy. I know we will be hugging our families a little tighter. And I know we will support you and your family in any way you need. Please stay strong.
Sincerely, Dana- A Fellow Sarnia Resident.

I am devastated at the loss of this young life. Clearly the Lord needed his angel back. All we can do now , is ask that Haiden pray for all us, still left on this planet. Are the police still looking for witnesses? do we know what happened? Such a terrible terrible loss

  16. Kathy Kerr MacCallum Svoboda says:

James – I am so sorry about Haiden. I am Sarah MacCallum’s Mom and Adrian Conant’s Mother-in-Law. My thoughts and prayers are very much with you now.
And to EVERYONE out there – please please please, NO MORE phones and other distractions when driving – a car is a very heavy weapon YOU are wielding. Concentration is so very critical. Lives are at stake, and it’s the innocent, like wee Haiden, who pay the price!

  17. Maggie Peters says:

I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. The traffic is so close to the street. Its too bad that some of the houses dont have a huge back yard. I lived at a house up north when the new highway came thru we only had about 3 feet to the curb and consequently I had to be with my children all the time if they went out much less attempt to cross the street as the cars would whiz by and with the trees couldnt see if a child were there or not. We may like the beauty of trees but they should all be cut down at corners on all sides and anyone who builds a fence next to the sidewalk should be told about the law that it is on city property and should be built in the proper location as a picket fence blocks the view–you never know when a car is going the wrong way on the street and hit someone.
