Sarnia Police are investigating a robbery in a parking lot in the 1300 block of London Road, west of Finch Drive, that took place on Sunday afternoon between 4 and 4:30.
A police news release says a 56-year-old man was in the parking lot checking on his car's overheated engine.
As he stood looking under the hood another vehicle pulled up and the driver asked if he needed help. After a short period of time the victim felt something being poked in the back of his neck. He was told by the suspect not to move or look up.
The suspect then opened the door of the victim's vehicle and removed his wallet from the front seat before fleeing the area eastbound on London Rd.
The suspect is described as being a white male, early to late 50's, approx 5' 6" tall, 170 lbs. He had a full beard described as grey and scruffy. His clothing is described as ratty and smelling of body odour. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a grey Buick with 4 doors, possibly a late 70' – early 80's model covered in rust.
The victim who described the vehicle to police as a “big boat” or “gas guzzler” was not injured. He returned home before calling police.
