City police report busy St. Patty’s Day

Sarnia Police report a busy St. Patrick's Day with 99 calls for service and nine people remaining in custody.

 "All of the elements for a busy night shift came together on March 17, mild weather, the March school break and of course it was St. Patrick’s Day" said Cst. Bill Baines.
 
The evening started off with the report of abduction, assault and robbery in the Canatara Park area around 7:30 p.m.
Police located the 19-year-old victim who had received minor injuries during the incident and later arrested two of the four suspects they were looking for.
 
Two Sarnia men, 27 and 23, have a date in court today for bail hearings. Two other suspects remain at large.
 
Meantime, just before midnight last night, police were called to the area of Mitton Street and Wellington Street to investigate an assault.
 
A 42-year-old Sarnia man was parked on the side of the street when a man approached the car carrying a piece of metal pipe. The man smashed the side window of the car, striking the victim n the head with the pipe. The suspect, a 43-year-old Sarnia man was located by police and arrested. He faces charges of Assault and Assault with a Weapon and will appear in court at a later date. The victim received minor injuries.
 
And, at about 2:30 this morning, police arrested two Sarnia men in their early twenties after they were found inside a shed at the Bright's Grove Golf Course. The pair has both been charged with Break and Enter.
