City will give more time for residents to pay tax bills due to postal disruption
Sarnia — By JD Booth on June 27, 2011 at 3:55 pmThe city of Sarnia is extending its "due date" for tax bills that would otherwise not have reached residents because of the disruption in Canada Post service.
Brian McKay told Sarnia City Council in a memo that "even with the pending settlement and the return to work for Canada Post staff, it is still anticipated that a number of residents will not receive their tax bills by the tax due date."
That date, which was July 4, 2011, is being extended to July 18, 2011, with interest and penalty added only to those accounts after that day.
