‘Closed’ street sign means just that, say Police

Road Closed Campbell 24 Nov 2010 004

Some drivers, it would seem, haven’t got the message about what the sign “road closed” means say Sarnia Police, who during a two-hour period on Wed., Nov. 24 laid 17 charges under the Highway Traffic Act to drivers who ignored closure of the east bound lanes of Campbell Street near Russell.

“Roads are closed during repairs for the safety of both workers and the drivers themselves,” said Executive Officer. Bill Baines of the Sarnia Police Service. “It takes less time to follow a detour than it does to be issued a ticket.”
