Among several rallies designed to create awareness for a community-wide anti-suicide message was a Friday afternoon gathering at MPP Bob Bailey's office, where the message of "don't give up" was heard loud and clear.

Community activist Hilary Randall, who had organized the event, emphasized that the recent loss of a teenager to suicide had galvanized a wide range of people.

Lynda Robinson, vice president of operations at Bluewater Health, responded to a question about the capacity for care for those who exhibit signs of suicide.

Acknowledging that the issue of suicide is a significant mental health concern was Alan Stevenson, who leads the Lambton Kent branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

MPP Bailey said he would continue to advocate for more help for young people dealing with the pressures that may contribute to the community tragedy around the issue of suicide.
