Copper stolen from Thedford Arena construction site, OPP report
Lambton Shores — By JD Booth on January 25, 2011 at 9:44 amLambton OPP are investigating the theft of approximately $12,500 of installed copper piping and wire from inside the new Thedford Arena, now under construction.
The theft, police say, took place on two separate occasions; one between 5 p.m. on Thursday, jan. 13 and 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, the other between 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23 and 7 a..m. on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011.
In the first incident, police say entry was gained to the building by prying plywood off the front door. In the second, glass in the front door was broken. Police say the thieves appeared to have spent a few hours inside the building, removing some 300 feet of type L copper pipe and over 200 feet of copper wire that had been already installed.
The $12,500 does not include the cost of labour to repair and reinstall what has been stolen.
