County will seek provincial funds to reimburse costs of snow emergency

Even though Lambton County staff have been told that the threshold for assistance under the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program would be about $2.3 million, councillors have voted to apply for reimbursement

The vote to do so was not unanimous. One vocal dissenter was Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley, who said the chances of approval were "zero."

Bradley referenced last year's tornado in Vaughn, near Toronto, as precedent for his less than optimistic expectation.

Instead, Bradley said, "let's accept it; we're neighbours taking care of neighbours."

Sarnia, he added, will do whatever it can in the future, including making available the use of a command centre which is located at Sarnia Police headquarters.
