A Sarnia police officer on patrol had to break suddenly last Friday to avoid hitting a cyclist who was darting out of a parking lot without a light.
On Jul. 13 around 9:15 p.m. a Sarnia Police COPPS officer was on a routine patrol in the area of Confederation and Vanier Roads.
The officer had to stop suddenly to avoid hitting a 20-year-old Sarnia man who had come out of a parking lot on his bike with no lights on the bike. The male rider was allegedly carrying a black bag with 6 cans of beer in it.
The officer said that he could smell alcohol on the rider’s breath.
Police said the suspect was on a recognizance of bail with a condition not to possess alcohol and, as such, was arrested and held for bail. He faces two charges, Breach of Recognizance and Breach of Probation.
