The Mooretown Flags scored three times in the opening eleven minutes of play last night and held on for a 4-3 win at Belle River in Great Lakes Junior “C” Hockey League action on Friday night.
Kurtis Glowa led the Flags with a goal and an assist. His goal was the eventual game winner late in the second period.
Andrew Ganter made 32 save for the win between the pipes, including all 12 shots directed his way in a scoreless third period.
It was Belle River's first loss of the season after coming out of the gate with a 5-0 record.
Mooretown, (3-2) returns home tonight (Saturday, October 1) to face the winless Wallaceburg Lakers.
Game time at the Moore Sports Complex is 7:30.
In Watford, the Alvinston Flyers connected for five power play goals in defeating Essex, 5-2.
Joe Archer had two of the goals while Dan Warner scored once and added three assists.
Alvinston was five for ten with the man advantage, while Essex was one for fourteen.
The Flyers travel to Blenheim for a matchup with the Blades on Sunday night (October 2) at 7:15.
And, Brennan Rainey scored his second of the night in the final minute of regulation time as the Dresden Jr. Kings beat Blenheim, 4-3.
