Jim Burns, a former warden of Lambton County, has been hired as the new chief administrative officer of the village of Point Edward, replacing Peggy Cramp, who is retiring.
Burns, who is currently mayor of the municipality of Enniskillen and as such sits on county council will take over on Sept. 26.
Point Edward Mayor Dick Kirkland, who currently sits on county council with Burns, said the new CAO will be a valuable asset to the village.
"Jim is a well-respected person throughout the county and province. I am pleased that he has accepted the position and look forward to working with him. He will bring new ideas (and) initiatives and will maintain fiscal responsibility for the municipality."
Burns says the Municipal Act does not require him to step down as mayor of Enniskillen in order to take the job with Point Edward, but he says it was a requirement of the village in order to him to be hired.
So, Burns says his resignation with Enniskillen will take effect on September 30.
