Galchenyuk happy to have surgery behind him
Sports, Where we live — By jd on November 11, 2011 at 5:03 pmInjured Sarnia Sting forward Alex Galchenyuk has told www.nhl.com that hopes to be back on skates sometime next month.
The first overall selection in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection injured his knee is a pre-season game against Windsor in September at the RBC Centre and underwent surgery to repair a torn knee ligament on October 27.
He has not played a regular season game this year, following his 31-goal rookie season in 2010-11.
In his blog for the website, Galchenyuk says he has begun therapy and is thankful to his fans and teammates for their ongoing support.
"Of course it's hard for me to watch (the Sting) from the sidelines, I really want to be out there, but it's all part of the game and unfortunately injuries are part of hockey, so I'll have to deal with this and just focus on getting better," said Galchenyuk in the blog posted on the Sarnia Sting website.
Meantime, the Sting, ranked fifth this week in the CHL top ten, is in Owen Sound tonight (Friday, Nov. 11) and will take on the Majors at the Hershey Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Both contests can be seen on TVCOGECO, Sarnia.
