Higher costs of asphalt has city trimming list of ‘shave and pave’ work done this year
Sarnia — By JD Booth on September 11, 2011 at 1:00 amSeveral proposed "shave and pave" resurfacing projects to have been completed in 2011 will have to wait.
That's what Sarnia City Council has been told, the reason being higher than expected asphalt costs which have forced staff to trim the list of work to be done to match available funding.
Streets being trimmed from this year's list include Davis Street (from Brock St. to Russell St.), Prentice Ave., Oak Ave. and Hamilton Rd. in Bright's Grove.
City Engineer J.P. Andre Morin told council in a memo that those streets that have been dropped from the list "will be considered by staff, to the best of our ability considering other pressures, to be the top of the priority list for 2012 asphalt resurfacing."

Re-paving and pot-hole repair aree never-ending jobs and expenses . The costs get higher each year and will continue to do so as oil becomes more costly. I recommend the city planners to a very interesting town. Craik SK has been recognized by the UN for its commitment to sustainability. They are re-paving thier streets with shredded tires. Think recycle. Go to http://www.townof Craik.SK.ca
