Household Hazardous Waste Day today in Forest
Lambton County, Lambton Shores, Where we live — By JD Booth on August 27, 2011 at 4:00 amThe popular Household Hazardous Waste Days, co-sponsored by the County of Lambton Public Works Department and Clean Harbors Canada Inc. will be held todaY (Saturday, August 27) from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm at the County of Lambton Public Works Depot, located on the outskirts of Forest at 6958 Townsend Line.
Corrosive, toxic, reactive and flammable materials will be collected at the mobile depot.
Examples of these types of materials include:

Pesticides
|
Pool Chemicals
|
Gasoline
|

Drain Cleaners
|
Rat Poison
|
Ammonia
|
Paints
|

Oven Cleaners
|
Cleaning Fluids
|
Bleach
|
BBQ Starter
|
|
Pharmaceuticals
|
Aerosols
|
Oils / Solvents
|
|
|
Propane Cylinders
|
Items NOT accepted include: PCBs, commercial, industrial, radioactive wastes, tires and explosives (flares and ammunition).
“To protect our environment, and to protect people working in landfills, it is important that these types of hazardous materials are disposed of properly,” said Jason Cole, Manager, Public Works.
Regularly scheduled household hazardous waste depots will continue at the Clean Harbors facility in St. Clair Township on September 24 and October 29. To learn which retailers accept items such as paint, batteries, and old electronics, visit www.dowhatyoucan.ca.
