Victoria Playhouse Petrolia continues to add stars to its roster of performers for the 2012 summer season, the latest being Jaydee Bixby, who will appear in this summer's "Country Sunshine" production (July 18-29).
Bixby, 2007 Canadian Idol runner-up from Drumheller, Alberta, has toured Canada several times performing at clubs, theatres, casinos and festivals, headlining or opening for artists like Montgomery Gentry, Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift.
This talented young man was born to sing and by the age of 10, he was performing with his family’s band. When Paul Anka was a guest star on an Idol show with Bixby, he said the teen “has the type of talent that will keep him around for decades to come.” That’s exactly the talent that David Rogers and David Hogan, VPP’s Artistic Directors, recognized when they were looking for a “Headliner” for Country Sunshine. “Jaydee brings the talent and the vitality that we are looking for in our cast,” says Hogan.
Bixby will be joined by other young performers from Starbright Summer Festival 2011’s “Let the Sunshine In” which debuted at the Imperial Theatre in Sarnia last summer. Audience favourites, Jenn Kee and Jessie Grandmount will also be part of the foot-stompin’, feel good time that Country Sunshine promises to be.
Country Sunshine tickets are now on sale at the VPP box office (519-882-1221) or online at www.thevpp.ca. Toll free number 1-800-717-7694.
