Lambton College Firefighter team takes silver at Ontario championship event
Feature, Sarnia — By JD Booth on August 14, 2012 at 11:54 amThe Lambton College Firefighter Combat NXG team won the silver medal at the third Ontario Scott Firefit Championship Regional event on August 11 and 12.
Team Captain Ian Van Reenan and Nelson Bodnar won silver with a time of 1:37.66 at the event held in Brampton this past weekend. The first place team included Lambton College Alumni Scott McIntyre and his fellow firefighter Ron Steele from the Stratford Fire Department. With a time of 1:37.86 the two teams were separated by less than a second.
The bronze medal was also taken by a Lambton College Alumni, Derrek Coccimiglio and fellow firefighter Jordan Cumming with a time of 1:40.80.
This year’s Scott Firefit Championship competition was the largest in history. A total of 22 teams competed and they came from Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and Nunavut.
