Lambton OPP is citing the provincial ‘Lock It or Lose It’ campaign in the wake of more reported thefts from vehicles that happened last weekend.
Police are investigating two more alleged incidents that happened last weekend where vehicles were broken into and items stolen.
A total of five separate incidents were reported to have occurred in the public beach parking lots of Pinery Provincial Park. In one case, the windows were partially rolled down.
Allegedly taken were purses, including cash, credit cards and personal information as well as two portable DVD players and an iPod.
Provincial police are reminding vehicle owners to lock their vehicle with windows closed and, most importantly, not to leave items of value inside.
“Many vehicle owners feel that locking your purses, wallets and items of value in the trunk is an acceptable way to protect your property,” said OPP Constable Reurink. “The difficulty is that you do not know who is watching while you secure your items in the trunk.”
