.Lambton OPP say a 17-year-old student at LLCVI in Petrolia, fearing suspension for fighting with another student, falsely reported he had been hit by a vehicle.
After hearing from the student who had identified someone as the driver of the vehicle, OPP and EMS were summoned by the school's principal, the OPP said in a release.
It was later determined that there had in fact been no vehicle incident. Since then, the student has received consequences under the Youth Criminal Justice Act related to the false reporting. He also faces consequences as administered by the school.
False reporting of an incident can face a criminal charge of Public Mischief, according to Lambton OPP.
