Legionnaires get back to battle tonight

The Sarnia Legionnaires open a new Greater Ontario Junior “B” Hockey League season with a trip to Leamington tonight (Thursday, September 8) to take on the Flyers.

Sarnia was 3-1 in the pre-season, while the Flyers played two exhibition games and won them both.
The Legionnaires and Flyers are both looking to improve on last season. Leamington finished sixth in the Western Conference, five points better than the seventh place Legionnaires.
Sarnia's home opener is next Thursday, September 15, when they entertain LaSalle at the Sarnia Arena. Face off is at 7:10.
 
Meantime, Lambton Shores will open its season on Saturday against LaSalle at the Shores Recreation Centre in Forest. Game time is 7:30 pm.
 
League played opened last night with LaSalle edging Chatham, 3-2 and Strathroy downing London, 4-1. Sting draft choice Davis Brown scored twice for the Rockets.
