Youth have the power to bring about change on Feb. 16 at S.C.I.T.S. secondary school. Giving students a crucial voice in decisions that affect them is exactly what the Sarnia's Youth Summit 2012 is all about.
The organizers have said that the youth summit is designed to put young people in the community in touch with others who can help them move their ideas forward. The summit wants to promote awareness and teach students to think about who they can be, how to make their ideas real, and learn about what Sarnia has to offer.
Youth Friendly Community Committee Chair Alison Mahon says all high school, first and second year college students and those in grades 7 and 8 are invited.
There will be several international and local speakers featured at the summit including keynote speaker George Watsky. Other speakers will include Jaci Bork, Brent Foster, Tim Nixon, and Dan Edwards. Musical guests will include The Lunchbox Standard, Slakah, and The Chocolate Robots.
Tickets are five dollars in advance and are available at the Book Keeper, YMCA or Rebound.
