Gallery Lambton is thrilled to announce that over the next 18 months Juana Awad, a Colombian-born Canadian artist, will be creating a new work in collaboration with local artists, to be presented at the new Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery in Sarnia, Ontario.

Meet Juana Awad and view some of her work in the casual atmosphere of the First Friday Cultural Walkabout, on March 4, 2011 between 6:00 and 9:00 pm at Gallery Lambton. Then join Awad on Saturday, March 5 at 1:00 pm for a more formal Artist Talk, Presentation and Q&A on her extensive and multi faceted artistic practice.

Awad’s work is beautiful, sensitive and deeply personal as she exposes both individual and family vulnerabilities to reflect upon ideological and political issues. Her media works have been exhibited at festivals and galleries all over the world. As a performer, Awad has collaborated with actors, dancers and singers in pieces that are rooted in the physical and the personal.

At the same time that she has maintained a professional career as an artist, Awad has worked in the arts and culture sector directing, managing, curating, programming, and writing for projects of a national and international scope. She is currently the director of the 3D Film Innovation Consortium (3D FLIC) at York University.
