Michigan Ave. in Point Edward undergoing major work

Heading under the Blue Water Bridges? You'll need to consider an alternate route than Michigan Ave. or follow the marked detour route starting this week.

The area affected is from Livingston Street to the entrance to the Waterfront Park.

The seven-week project, said to start next week—although the road was blocked yesterday (Wednesday)—is being done at a cost of $400,000. Cope Construction and Contracting Limited will handle the work as part of a $9 million 2012 construction program at the county level.

Improvements such as new curb and gutter, new granular base material, new watermain, new storm sewer and asphalt surface are included in the project.
