MP Bev Shipley says thank you to those who helped in the storm

Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Member of Parliament Bev Shipley has tipped his hat to everyone who pitched in to help during this week's storm that ravaged Sarnia-Lambton and parts of Middlesex County.
"Like many of you, I am amazed that in the course of this event, there were no serious injuries and not a single fatality (in this riding)," Shipley wrote in an e-mail to
(A death did occur in neighbouring Chatham-Kent when 41-year-old Neeland Rumble of Sarnia left his vehicle during the storm and succumbed to the elements.)
"This would not have been possible without the professional efforts of community leaders, their staffs, first responders, emergency medical teams, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Canadian Military and scores of volunteers and volunteer organizations," continued Shipley.
He commended the courage, skill, dedication and sacrifice of those who helped and said the caring and compassion shown by many was not unexpected coming from his "neighbourly" constituents. "Thank you for a job well done," he concluded.
