New census data shows population growth in Sarnia, number of private homes has risen since 2006
Business, Sarnia — By Joe Burd on February 8, 2012 at 1:27 pmMore than 72,000 people call Sarnia home, according to 2011 census figures, having seen a 1.3% rise in population since 2006.
The precise number is 72,366, an increase of 947 since the last census almost 6 years ago.
Lambton County, on the other hand, has seen its population decrease 1.6% since 2006.
The number of private homes in Sarnia has also risen from 30,110 to 33,010 since the 2006 census.
Statistics Canada released today the first installment of new census data collected nationally in 2011, with second and third installments expected respectively on May 29 and Oct. 24.
