OPP locate stolen car in possession of drunk driver

Lambton  OPP arrested and charged a 30-year-old Sarnia man with impaired driving and possession o stolen property following a traffic stop on Lakeshore Road in Lambton Shores Tuesday (Jan. 24).

The incident, which occurred around 6:50 p.m., began with an officer on patrol coming upon a 2010 Kia Rio stopped on the side of the highway. The vehicle had been reported stolen from a Canadian Tire gas bar on London Road earlier in the day.

Upon further investigation, the officer determined that the driver was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Subsequent tests revealed the driver was well over the legal limit.

The driver wil appear in Sarnia court on Feb. 13, 2012 to answer to charges of theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, impaired driving and being over the legal limit.
