OPP, Ontario Fire Marshall continue to investigate boathouse fire
Feature, Lambton County — By JD Booth on December 21, 2011 at 9:59 amA fire that began Monday morning at the St. Clair Boathouse on Old River Road and resulted in the road being closed until the the early hours of Tuesday is still under investigation by Lambton County OPP.
A shelter in place order was lifted just after 9 p.m. yesterday.
Both the OPP and the Ontario Fire Marshall are continuing with the investigation. Neither a cause for the fire or a damage estimate is available.
The OPP along with St. Clair Township Fire were called to the structure fire involving a storage shed housing approximately 65 boats and a few vehicles.
St. Clair Township Firefighters from five of the local stations were on scene battling the blaze and a fire boat from Clay Township Michigan was also assisting in the incident. Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is also on scene.
Lambton County OPP closed Old River Road between Brander Park Road and Indian Road to give emergency crews room to work.
