The second to last day of the year ended badly for two area drivers accused of drinking and driving.
In the first of two incidents reported by Lambton OPP, a Sarnia driver was charged after police responded to a 3 a.m. report of an SUV having rolled into the ditch on Highway 40 in the area of indian Road. The 30-year-old driver is to appear in court to answer to charges of impaired driving, being over the legal limit and leaving the scene of an accident as well as failing to report an accident.
At around 11:00 p.m., OPP say they responded to a single vehicle crash involving a Ford truck on Mandaumin Road in the area of Edys Mills Line. The male driver, who had gone to Bluewater Health's CEE site in Petrolia for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, was later determined to have been driving drunk.
