Patients’ group seeking nominations to honour top docs

If you believe your physician is committed to providing great patient care, submit a nomination about him or her for the Patients’ Choice Awards. Sponsored by Bluewater Health, the Patients’ Association of Canada and the Ontario Medical Association, the Patients’ Choice Awards recognize physicians who have specifically been nominated by patients for the care that they have provided. The awards are open to all family physicians and specialists in Sarnia- Lambton.

To submit a nomination, patients are asked to write a brief story highlighting their positive experiences with their physician online at www.patientsassociation.ca/nominate or by mail to:

The deadline for nominations is Monday, September 10. Submissions will be judged by a panel of patients working with the Patients’ Association of Canada, and winners will be announced by the end of September.

“The Patients’ Choice Awards provide us with an ideal opportunity to acknowledge those physicians who live the mission of Bluewater Health – we create exemplary healthcare experiences for patients and families every time,” said Dr. Mark Taylor, Interim Chief of Professional Staff at Bluewater Health. “We look forward to hearing from patients who wish to recognize their physician for providing exceptional care.”

Dr. Sholom Glouberman, the Founder of the Patients’ Association of Canada, declared that these are the only awards in Canada where doctors are nominated by their patients and where a patient jury sets the criteria and selects the winners of the awards.

“The Patients’ Choice Award is a great opportunity to recognize physicians who have provided commendable service to their patients. We want to encourage more patients to come forward and share the positive impact their doctor has had on their experience in the healthcare system,” said Dr. Doug Weir, President, Ontario Medical Association.

The Patients’ Association of Canada is a patient led and patient governed organization working to improve the health care experience for everyone.
