The County of Lambton is recognizing local veterans with the honorary renaming of Petrolia Line. The County roadway running through Petrolia will now also be known as “Veterans Way.”

A sign was unveiled at the northwest corner of Petrolia Line and Oil Heritage Road Tuesday morning (Oct. 23), one of nine locations in Petrolia and Enniskillen Township.

“We wanted to do something to say ‘thank you’ to the many men and women who have served our country,” said Warden Steve Arnold. “Working with the Petrolia Legion, we determined the honourary renaming of the busiest street in town would show our local veterans just how much we appreciate them.”

Signs will also be placed at: Kentail Street, First Avenue, Greenfield Street, Centre Street, Queen Street, Huggard Street, Oozloffsky Street and Marthaville Road.

County staff worked with Royal Canadian Legion Branch 216 (Petrolia), Warden Arnold, Petrolia Mayor John McCharles and Enniskillen Township Mayor Kevin Marriott to select the locations.
