Crime, Sarnia — By on June 26, 2012 at 12:16 pm

Sarnia police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle on the weekend that ended up in a high speed chase and the uncovering of a stolen vehicle.

On Jun. 24 around 2:41 a.m., a Sarnia police officer patrolling in the area of Stockwell and Devine noticed a Ford Taurus being driven without its headlights. He also noted the driver was a young male and that there was a dealer plate hanging over and obscuring the issued license plate.

Once on Devine St. the officer turned on the emergency lights and siren to signal the driver to pull over. The driver ignored the officer and continued east on Devine Street.

Once at Indian Road the driver of the Taurus turned south onto Indian Road and accelerated slightly making no attempt to stop.

The driver turned east onto Confederation and accelerated again.

Police said that as the Taurus crossed over Murphy Road the driver accelerated dramatically and in the interest of public safety the pursuit was discontinued.

Police found the Taurus a short time later abandoned on the front lawn of a home in the 1800-block of Confederation Street.

Further investigation revealed that a business located in the 700-block of Confederation had been broken into. Once inside the suspect removed the keys to the Taurus and the dealer plate then stole the car from the compound.

Anyone with information regarding the Break and Enter and Theft of the Ford Taurus is asked to call Sarnia Police at 519-344-8861.

Vidal Devine and Queen St have become areas that it isnt safe for anyone crossing the street. They nearly rammed into the bldg at 186 Queen st when trying to turn the corner at a high rate of speed. I am glad for the great police protection we have as they have been stopping them on many occassions.
To top this off my neighbour Patrick who is in Apt 20
was using my lawn chairs as I put them in front of his apt when the apt was vacant so no one could break in. I told him he could use them but if I needed them I would have to take them to Canatara park if I went. I am a sr sr and he wasnt home so I took one of the chairs to put my foot up on as due to the hot weather my ankles were swollen. He came home and said get your ,,,, feet off my chair and promptly took the chair. After he made phone calls he found out they were mine so came out and said if you want your —chairs take them now-I thought he was having another temper trantrum so waited until the next day as at my age I didnt want anyone to go near him to get my chairs. The next morning when I was going for my chairs, I seen he had new chairs and I asked him where mine was and he said in the dumptser–GO DIG FOR THEM. These chairs were extra chairs for me as the ones I have sink into the ground and I cant take them to the park and were a gift on top of this from a person I knew that had passed away from cancer. People dont have manners as they used to and from now on I wont be letting anyone use my things. I told him Dont you know-DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU- after he told me to dig for them.–and as my Scottish family used to say If you do something wrong to someone else, It will all come back to you.
Upbringing in the home is very important and some of these people who race cars-do nasty things have been born but never raised properly or they would never do something like that.
May God Bless Sarnia Police Force in all they do to bring peace to this very special city of ours.
