Sarnia Police would likely have been a little less busy over the weekend were it not for the influence of alcohol on human behaviour.
In one incident in the early hours of Saturday morning (around 2:45), police were called to the area of Sutton and Campbell regarding a drunken disturbance.
A woman complained her phone had been stolen, the man accused having fled the area before the arrival of officers.
Police questioned a man they say was fidgeting around a car across the street. When asked to identify himself, he produced a phone from one pocket; during the conversation with police, a second phone began ringing from his other pocket.
That second phone was found to be the one reported stolen. He is being charged with possession of stolen property.
In a second incident, which occurred Saturday morning around 8 a.m. in the 1600 block of London, a 61-year-old man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.
On Sunday, just before 4 p.m., police were called to the area of George Street near Vidal regarding a man sleeping at the bus stop.
olice woke the man, who was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and transported till sober. The man was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for being intoxicated in a public place.
