Update: Damage in Canatara park overnight, police locate vehicle and driver

Sarnia Police have located the blue 2004 Toyota Echo that was involved in the collision in Canatara Park early this morning.

An overnight disturbance in Canatara Park left an aftermath of significant damage, both to the vehicle involved and park grounds.

The incident is said to have happened in the early morning hours prior to 4:30 a.m.

Police said a vehicle left the roadway in Canatara Park and at least 10 wooden posts aligning the roadway and parking lot were damaged on a bend in the road near the park maintenance shed.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and investigators are speaking with the owner of the Toyota and the alleged driver.

There is estimated $4,000 damage to the car and the cost of the damage in the park is unknown at this time.

City by-laws prohibit entry into Canatara Park between the hours of midnight and 5:00 a.m.
