Safe Communities Sarnia-Lambton seeking nominations for ‘Ambassador’ awards program
Feature, Sarnia — By JD Booth on August 11, 2011 at 10:35 pmSafe Communities Sarnia-Lambton, which is part of a network of 44 similar groups throughout Canada, is already looking to October 5 as a celebration of Safe Communities Day, marking the occasion through a series of "Ambassador for Safety" awards.
Mark Roehler, who heads the local group, says the organization is seeking nominations from the general public as a way of celebrating Safe Communities Day.
The awards cover a number of categories, including:
- Youth (25 and under)
- Individual
- Non-Profit Organization
- Small Business (20 employees or less)
- Large Business (> 20 employees)
Deadline for nominations is September 15, 2011 and award criteria and nomination forms are available on the Safe Communities website. Information is also available by contacting Christina Teskey at (519) 344-0026 or by e-mail (info@safecommunitiessarnia-lambton.com).
Sarnia-Lambton was designated as the 9th Safe Community in Canada in October 1997. "Safe Communities Sarnia-Lambton is a charitable organization dedicated to collaborative programmes which are coordinated and designed to promote a culture of safety for all of our citizens," said Roehler, who is a principal with locally headquartered LEHDER Environmental Services.
