The Sarnia Legionnaires ended their four-game losing streak in dramatic fashion Thursday, shellacking the St. Thomas Stars 9-0.

With the victory, Sarnia improves to 5-7-2 and moves out of the cellar in the Western Ontario Hockey Conference, two points ahead of Lambton Shores and just two back of St. Thomas.

Jeff Bauer led the charge with four goals and an assist. The production leaves him with eight goals in just seven games since joining the team two weeks ago.

It was the second four-goal game of his Jr. 'B' career, with the first coming last season when he toiled for the Listowel Cyclones.

Nathan Mater got the winning goal in the first period when he snapped in a puck sitting just two feet from the blue paint.

For Mater, who has been snake-bitten around the net this season, it was his first goal of the campaign.

Another player notching his first marker included Spencer Bronzi.

Zack Tuchklaper, who has had trouble finding the back of the net after getting off to a fast start in September, nailed his fourth of the year.

He also had two assists.

Other goal scorers included Derek D'Andrea and Brent Sauve.

Davis Boyer didn't score a goal but he set up four.

Others credited with assists included Josh Kestner, Jason Teschke and Steve Farlow, who each had two, and Tyler Prong and Thomas Moxley and Mater, who had one each.

The Legionnaires return to action Tuesday when they host the Leamington Flyers.
