Sarnia Police fielded a total of 192 calls over the weekend, including a variety of thefts, disturbances, Liquor Licence Act Violations, motor vehicle accidents, and break and enter.

One of the break and enter incidents occurred on Friday between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at a residence in the 800 block of Assiniboine Crescent, where entry was made through an unlocked patio door while the victim was in the residence.

A purse with identification, credit cards and other personal items was removed.

The same day, at approximately 12:50 p.m., police say a 53-year-old female was in the basement of her home in the 400 block of Kathleen Avenue when she heard her dog bark on the main floor.

When the woman went upstairs to investigate she found a man in her kitchen holding onto her purse. She attempted to grab the purse from the suspect but fell in the ensuing struggle after the purse strap broke.

While the woman struck her face and head on the wall, she was not seriously injured and declined medical attention.

The suspect is described as a male, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, wearing a black coat with fur on the edge of the hood, black pants and with a scarf covering his mouth and nose.

Anyone with information is advised to contact the Sarnia Police Service or Crimestoppers.
