Sarnia Police has clearly embraced social media, demonstrated often through their very active Facebook and Twitter accounts, will be having a Tweet-a-Thon on Canada Day.
The police will be "tweeting" each and every call they respond to and each incident they come across during their inaugural Tweet-a-Thon.
The social media event by local law enforcement will start at 6 p.m. when the venues commence in Centennial Park. Sarnia Police Twitter account is @SarniaPolice.
Sarnia Police Service has over 1,300 followers and hopes to increase that number by having this event.
The Sarnia Police Twitter account has been operating for about one year and they have posted over 670 Tweets.
Sarnia Police expect a successful Canada Day and officers will be out on foot and bike patrols. Two officers will also be positioned at the MacDonald's on North Christina Street.
A zero tolerance approach will be taken to anyone violating the laws and preventing attendees from enjoying all the festivities.
If you are taking your vehicle, police remind you to lock it and keep valuables out of sight.
