The Sarnia Rotary Club of Sarnia has announced that, again by popular demand, they will hold their annual Pancake Breakfast on Mackinac Race Day.

The club says that "close to 2,000 breakfasts will be served" to Mackinac spectators this year.

Local Rotarians are busy preparing to welcome area residents and visitors to its annual Mackinac Breakfast, on Jul. 14 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., under the bridge at Point Edward's picturesque Waterfront Park.

The club said tickets are still a bargain at $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12 and are sold at the park entrance to the event. Proceeds from the event are dedicated to community betterment and international aid projects.

Each meal includes a generous serving of pancakes, syrup, sausages, juice and coffee.

In what has become a banner summer community event by the river, local Rotarians arrive at first light to set up and cook the breakfasts. With good humour and camaraderie they rise to the task of preparing and serving the food as quickly as possible and keeping the customers flowing through the dining area. All this while also contributing their time to raise funds for the community and the work of Rotary.

The Rotary Club of Sarnia is supported by the activities of more than 70 members, who are local business and organization leaders representing a variety of vocations. Continuing to live by its motto, "Service above Self," Rotary Sarnia maintains an active program, focusing on special needs children, youth leadership growth, community betterment and vocational ethics, as well as international peace, aid and development.
