Sarnia Tartan makes its debut in Canada Day Parade 2012

The Sarnia Legionnaires Pipe Band, which was part of the announcement of an official "Sarnia Tartan" last October, debuted the design on kilts its members wore in the Canada Day Parade 2012.

Pipe Major Tom Rankin (pictured on the far left) was involved in the official registration of the Sarnia Tartan, which is certified by the Scottish Register of Tartans under the authority of the U.K. Scottish Register of Tartans Act of 2008.

The design of the Sarnia Tartan is based on the Mackenzie Tartan (Alexander Mackenzie, who represented Canada as was the country's second prime minister, was also the original publisher/editor of the Lambton Shield). The colours are from the city of Sarnia's coat of arms.

The Sarnia Legionnaires Pipe Band led the Canada Day Parade this year.
