Search warrant executed, large cache of drugs seized
Crime, Sarnia — By Joe Burd on April 16, 2012 at 10:16 amSarnia police arrested a 41-year-old Sarnia man Friday after the Sarnia Police Vice Branch executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a home on Devine Street around 11:30 p.m.
The man was arrested in the area of Lansdowne and Wellington around 9 p.m. Police said when he was arrested; he was carrying a large amount of drugs which included cocaine, marihuana and Oxycodone.
After the execution of the search warrant, more drugs and cash were seized.
In total, over 373 grams of cocaine was seized, the equivalent to over 13 ounces valued at over $37,000. Also, 132 grams of marihuana valued at over $1,300, 116 tablets of oxycodone valued at $580, 63 tablets of Ecstasy valued at over $600 and the total quantity of cash seized was over $6,000.
The man's truck was also seized and he was held in custody until today when he is slated to appear in Sarnia court for a bail hearing to face four charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
A 47-year-old Sarnia man was also arrested at Lansdowne and Wellington at the time and subsequently released on a Promise to Appear. He is charged with Obstructing Justice.
Police said this drug seizure of cocaine puts a large dent into the trafficking of cocaine in the Sarnia community.
