Elizabeth Jessie Skelton (nee Richardson) passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 97 years, 8 months and 29 days. She was the beloved wife of Walter Richard Skelton and the only child of George Alexander Hall Richardson and Mary Cobban Richardson (nee Carnegie). Jessie was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1969, her parents George in 1940, Mary in 1966 and by her second son David Arnold Skelton in 1972. Mourned by her children; Richard George Skelton (Eulalia) of La Coruna, Spain, Penelope Anne Ashdown (Most Rev. Archbishop David Ashdown) of Kenora, Ontario and Walter Michael Skelton (Brooke) of Waterloo, Ontario. Eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren ant two great great-grandchildren also survive. Jessie enjoyed a long and full life. A long time member of the Girl Guides in Sarnia and Corunna, Jessie eventually served as District Commissioner. She was active in her church, loved to garden and to collect and repair dolls. Her travels in earlier years along with her photography were extensive. A long time resident of the Corunna area Jessie moved to the assisted care wing of Rosewood Manor four years ago. Many thanks go to the staff of Rosewood Manor who provided Jessie with a quality life in her final years. Special thanks to the nurses of Surgery B at Bluewater Health for their attention to Jessie in her final week of life. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home 588 St. Clair Parkway Corunna on Monday January 23, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service for Jessie will be held at All Saints Church- Corunna (Christ Church) corner of Hill and Lyndoch Streets on Tuesday January 24, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. with The Rev. Canon Nick Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Sutherland Cemetery, Courtright. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Girl Guides of Canada or to the charity of one’s choice.
