Lambton County Councillors, voting by secret ballot at their inaugural meeting Dec. 1, elected Steve Arnold as the second-tier government's 154th Warden.

Arnold, who is mayor of St. Clair Township, will serve in the post, which includes chairing council meetings and representing the county at public events, through 2012.

Plympton-Wyoming Mayor Lonny Napper was elected (again by secret ballot) as Deputy Warden.

Arnold was elected Warden on the second ballot after incumbent Jim Burns (Mayor of Enniskillen Township) was eliminated in a first vote. Burns had served three terms as Warden.

Other candidates for the Warden position were Petrolia Mayor John McCharles and Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley.
