Last year, Sarnia Christian School students and their parents, walking at the start of the Sarnia Kinsmen Christmas Parade of Lights, collected some 1,200 pounds of canned goods and $877 in cash donations for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
This Saturday (Dec. 4) they'll try to do even more with the help of the community, said spokesperson Sonja VanderHeide.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to extend a helping hand to those who are less fortunate," said VanderHeide, one of an active group of parents. "The parade is an event that the entire community enjoys and it's a time when we can also make a difference."
The parade starts at 6 p.m. and the Sarnia Christian School group will once be at the front, accompanied by a yellow bus.
"We’ll be loading the bus all through the event and deliver the canned goods directly to the Inn of the Good Shepherd following the parade," said VanderHeide.
