Styrosolution reports spill into St. Clair as product loaded, water intakes downriver alerted
Lambton County — By JD Booth on August 18, 2012 at 11:40 amA spill of what is being reported as approximately one gallon of ethylbenzene into the St. Clair River early Saturday morning resulted in water plant operators downstream being advised to close their intakes.
A spokesperson for Styrolution said the company was loading product onto a ship at the Lansexx dock when the accident occurred.
Collection booms have been brought in to contain the chemical.
The Ministry of the Environment has been alerted.
